16 years ago I was told I wasn’t good enough to be a teacher……

Hi!
I'm Scott
You have what it takes to be a Superstar and my job is to help you on your way.
We've all failed at something, right?
But how do you overcome failure- to flip it to success?
We all have our own stories of challenge and how we've defied the odds to come out on top. Today- I wanna share a snippet of mine, with you.
After an outstanding first teaching practice. I started my second one on a high. Sadly, the moment of Euphoria didn't last for long. My 'Mentors' decided that I wasn't fit to teach. And I should find something else that interested me for a career path.
I argued that the School was not the right place for me and if I was given a different School- I would prove them wrong-and thrive. But they didn’t agree to it and I virtually failed my Post -Grad (PGCE).
6 months later I secured my first teaching job. And that's where the journey from failure to success really kicked in....
In the first week of starting my first 'real' teaching job- I cracked my ribs when getting out the shower. This was followed by the horror of being in school when the news of the London bombings came to light. (7/7/05).
School concert cancelled & I had to get on a bus to my Sister’s that afternoon and remember being petrified going across London. 4 months later- I was acting Head of Department. By the end of my NQT year I was full Head of Department. To my surprise, I bumped into one of my former 'mentors'. One of the people who told me I’d never amount to anything. She was in the same room, on the same course as me for GCSE Music. I’ve never seen anyone so gobsmacked!
Flash forward to now and I’ve taught through all Key Stages. Trained PGCE students and NQT’s. Taught as a Peripatetic Music Teacher, Private tutor. Lead departments. I've been a Senior Leader as Deputy & Assistant Headteacher, Staff Governor. I've taught in London, Dorset and most recently Internationally in Hong Kong. Where I survived Typhoon Mangkhut, Cellulitis in hospital, my daughter broke her wrist- and many other adventures….. Including the current COVID- saga!
If you feel like you’ve ‘failed’ and you're ready to ‘give it all up’- don’t!
Don’t let anyone bring you down and crush your dreams. Your time will come & you will be amazing!
